COPD Exercise program
At Medisch Centrum Zwaansvliet we work with multiple disciplines to provide you with the best customized care. We do this, for example, by developing exercise programs that are tailored to the care needs of patient groups. These programs offer a complete and versatile treatment process that promotes rapid and sustainable recovery.
COPD is a collective term for chronic bronchitis and emphysema. These are complaints due to a lack of lung function. Shortness of breath, cough and poor condition are common complaints that occur with COPD. Daily things like shopping, walking or climbing stairs can be difficult if you have COPD.
During 12 weeks you train twice a week under the guidance of a specialized physiotherapist. Before the first training takes place, an extensive test and an intake are taken. This is done to get a good impression of your complaints and to find out how you deal with them. The physiotherapist provides more information about the exercise program but also information about the different forms of COPD. The tests are repeated both at the end of the program to determine how much progress you have made.
The exercise program is tailor-made for you. This means that we take your situation and possibilities into account. It has been proven that the exercise program that you are going to follow has a favorable effect on your complaint and your handling of it. You learn to deal with your body more consciously, which helps prevent relapse. During the program we inform both your doctor, the POH COPD and possibly your lung doctor about the progress of the process.
COPD will be reimbursed from the basic insurance as of 1 January 2019 (this will be deducted from your own risk). How much you get reimbursed depends on the severity of your complaints.
